The session in full swing
As part of a local campaign to encourage and promote productivity in the workplace and boost employees’ motivation and positive attitude towards work, the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino in collaboration with the productivity unit in the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs recently organised a productivity awareness session for its workers.
Maryvonne Francis, head of the productivity unit, led the one-day educational and motivational session which was followed by all employees including a group of 26 management staff who followed the session during the afternoon.
The session was held at hotel’s Hibiscus conference room and it has been described as very insightful, motivational and interesting where Ms Francis diligently explained the:
- importance of work;
• meaning, benefits and implication of productivity for rapid economic development;
• rights, responsibilities and work ethics, productivity management;
• productivity improvement and the importance of good customer service.
The session ended late afternoon and both the participants and Ms Francis were satisfied with the level of participation in the discussions, the explanations given and the clarifications sought by staff. Both parties expect a gradual improvement in relation to growth and positivity in the workplace which can in due time result in:
• a more productive and respected workforce;
• a gradual change of staff mentality, work ethos and attitude;
• an increase in the level of discipline among staff;
• a gradual improvement in work performances; and
• encouraging more of the aspect of having the right person with the right attitude towards work.
