Basketball: Men’s league division two Anse Etoile climb into third position |15 July 2022

Anse Etoile are now occupying third position on the men’s division two league table following their 70-46 win over Anse Royale on Wednesday at Victoria Gymnasium.
They now have seven points from three victories and a defeat out of four matches, trailing second-placed Cascade Bullets and leaders AB Boys who are both on maximum eight points from four matches played, with the latter having a superior basket difference.
In Wednesday’s match, Anse Etoile, under the guidance of coach Kenneth Domingue, imposed total dominance on their opponents from the beginning, winning the first quarter 18-7, before clinching the second 20-13 for a comfortable 38-20 half-time advantage.
In the second half, Anse Royale put up a slight resistance and managed to win the third quarter 17-14, before Anse Etoile shifted back into strong gear to win the fourth and final quarter 18-9 and the match 70-46.
Brendon Belmont led the scoring for Anse Etoile with 25 points, while Dyan Azemia was Anse Royale’s top scorer with 13 points.
In the other match played in the division on Monday, AB Boys defeated MBU Boys 103-35.
The league will continue today with Mont Fleuri Ballerz taking on Cascade Bullets, while tomorrow, Anse Etoile will face St Louis Saints.
