Mango House F&B team to take on Hilton’s best in Barcelona

The Koko Mango F&B team raring to go

The Koko Mango food and beverage team from Mango House Seychelles has made it to the finals of the Taste of Hilton Flavour & Flair EMEA 2022 competition.

They will be heading to Barcelona in November to compete for this year’s top spot.

The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Venture Beyond’ and called on Hilton tastemakers from across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Turkiye to showcase their flavour and flair by pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone.

Taste of Hilton received an overwhelming response to this challenge with a staggering 94 entries from across the region. Over the past few months, judges have whittled these entries down to three finalists, which include Koko Mango.

The team comprises: Merla Delorie (sweet chef), Chris Young Kon (solid chef), Rahul Rawat (liquid chef), Sravana Bhagavat (the guru) and Michael Turyasima (the caffeine).

Together they created a Creole-themed feast, which included Koko-nut negroni, Koko-Nut spritz, Millionaire palm heart salad, fish curry 2.0, Creole fusion and medley’s Affogato that swept the judges off their feet.

“We are extremely proud of our Koko Mango team for making it all the way to the finals,” says Thibaut Vieira, director of food and beverage at Mango House Seychelles. “We have two months to prepare and will be making the most of this time to perfect our drinks and dishes.”

Koko Mango will be representing Africa and the Indian Ocean region at the finals in Barcelona this November. They will be competing against Hilton Manchester Deansgate (representing the United Kingdom, Ireland and Israel) and Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona (representing Continental Europe).

“Making it to the finals of Taste of Hilton’s Flavour & Flair competition is a massive achievement for Mango House Seychelles, the Koko Mango team in particular, of course,” says Britta Krug, general manager at Mango House Seychelles. “We’re all cheering them on and can’t wait for the judges to experience the magic they create in the finals.”
