Arts competition puts the spotlight on disaster risk reduction |13 September 2022

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, celebrated on October 13, celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness of the risks that they face.

For the occasion, the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD) is launching an arts competition for primary, secondary and post- secondary students.

The aim is to increase the awareness of the global environment through drawings/paintings of young people’s understanding of disaster risk reduction, the impact of climate change and the need for joint efforts in protecting the planet and preventing hazards.

Students are invited to enter the competition under the following five categories: P4 to P6; S1 & S2;

S3 & S4; S5; post-secondary.

  • Be original and created by the entrant;
  • Should be landscape orientation and paper size of either A4 or A3;
  • Be completed using a range of materials and techniques from the following list: drawing (e.g. pencil, pen, crayon, pastel, etc.), and painting (water or oil).
