LWMA chief executive suspended |24 September 2022

The chief executive of the Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA), Sheils Barra, has been suspended from duty effective September 21, 2022.

This was confirmed yesterday by the office of the Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment.

A press release from the ministry said the decision has been made under the guidance of the Public Services Bureau, and is necessary to allow Internal Audit of the Ministry of Finance to investigate allegations of irregularities at the agency.

“Since this is an ongoing investigation, the ministry would only be in a position to make any comments once feedback is received from the Ministry of Finance team,” the press release said.

In the meantime, the board of the agency, through its chairman, Aubrey Lucas, has been instructed to make interim arrangements for the discharge of all functions at the agency during the period of the CEO’s absence.
