The newly accredited ambassador of Turkey to Seychelles, Subutay Yüksel, has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne.

Mr Yüksel was accompanied by the honorary consul of Turkey, Rajasimhan Ramani.

The discussion began with the ambassador providing details of his past career experience across different fields and working with different thematic areas, as well as details regarding his previous diplomatic work.

This was followed by a discussion on key areas for further engagement between Turkey and Seychelles, including high-level visits at the ministries, parliament businesses, as well as economic cooperation in the context of compounding global crisis and renewable energy.

Mr Mancienne expressed his sympathies following the recent earthquakes and flooding that hit Turkey.

The Speaker also mentioned Turkey’s instrumental role in the Ukraine Black Sea grain deal – a pact brokered with Russia and Ukraine by the United Nations and Turkey. The deal was crucial in allowing exportation of Ukrainian grain to global markets after supply chains had been disrupted by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The meeting concluded with both dignitaries exchanging gifts and well wishes for the future.

Following this, Mr Yüksel and Mr Ramani also met with the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly.
