GSP7s emerged victorious against Lakstars

 

In an exciting morning match in the Amazon Betting T20 Championship division one on Sunday, GSP7s emerged victorious against Lakstars with a six-wicket win at the Persévérance playing ground, fielding first after winning the toss.

Lakstars managed to score 113 runs for 10 wickets in 18.5 overs when batting first.

Thiwanka Rajapaksa played a brilliant knock of 32 runs in 21 balls with six 4s.

Although Lakstars lost two quick wickets in the middle order against GSP‘s threatening bowling attack, Amal (29 of 22) and Kavinda Basnayake's (29 of34) vital knocks helped the team reach the total of 113 runs.

Kelvin Deso's exceptional bowling spell (5 wickets for 14 runs) helped GSP 7s restrict Lakstars’ innings to 117. Rajiv also bowled an economical spell, taking one wicket for 20 runs in his four overs.

In pursuit of the target, GSP 7s lost three early wickets in the very first over for just one run, against the superb opening over of Sarth Fernando. However, GSP 7s managed to recover from the situation and made a strong comeback, with a brilliant 47-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Babu and Anoop.

In the end, GSP 7s chased down the target quite comfortably, with Anoop stroking an unbeaten 42 off 47 balls and Kelvin Deso scoring an unbeaten 39 runs off 26 balls. Babu also contributed an important knock of 23 runs in 29 balls.

Sarath Fernando bowled exceptionally well, picking three wickets for Lakstars, giving away only nine runs in the three overs he bowled. Apart from that, Amal Subasinghe took one wicket for Lakstars for 28 runs in his four overs.

Kelvin Deso was player of the match for his outstanding all-round performance with bat and ball.

In the other match played in the championship, BD Tigers secure a 66-run victory over Narayan X1

Winning the toss, Narayan XI's skipper elected to field first, and BD Tigers, lost first two wickets early (at 10 and 32) and two quick wickets in the middle (at 37).

However, with brilliant batting performances by Kamal (42 off 44) and Rahul Islam (23 off 25) BD Tigers managed to post a total of 117 runs for six wickets in 20 overs.

Sohil Vekariya, the best bowler for Narayan XI, picked up three wickets for 22 runs, while Vivekrupaliya picked up one wicket for 19 runs with an economical spell.

In the second innings, Narayan XI struggled with their chase, losing two early wickets.

Govind Kerai's important knock of 30 runs in 24 balls helped to rescue the innings a bit, but after the 20-run partnership for the third wicket, Narayan XI lost regular wickets to the BD Tiger's bowling attack. Eventually, they only managed to score 51 runs for one wicket in 13 overs.

Karnal and Fahim shone with the ball, picking up three wickets each for the BD Tigers by bowling just one over.

Kamal, who scored 42 runs and got 3 wickets, was named the player-of-the-match for his exceptional batting and bowling performance.

 

Vijay Premier League T20 (division 2)

 

The Global Warriors faced off against Patel Youth in a morning match held at the Roche Caïman field, where the former won the toss and decided to bat first, posting a total of 95 runs on the board.

Global Warriors did not start well, losing a few early wickets, but the vital knocks of Sahid (29 runs in 39 balls) and Satish (17 runs in 17 balls), allowed them to post a total of 95.

Pravin Gosariya took 3 wickets for 1 run, while Naresh Jesani took 2 wickets for 24 runs, helping Patel Youth to finish Global Warriors’ innings for 95.

In reply, Patel Youth could only manage 72 runs for 10 wickets in 18.1 overs.

Patel's inning was never going well as they lost wickets in regular intervals, except for the 35-run partnership between Hemant and Rabadiya for the 10th wicket.

Despite the innings from Hemant (19 in 21 balls) and Purshottam Rabadiya (13 in 29 balls), other batters failed to score much against Global's bowling attack.

Vishnu bowled a superb spell, taking 4 wickets for 16 runs in 3.1 overs and wrecked the innings of the

Patel Youth.

Sahid and Pati also contributed to the cause, by picking two wickets each.

Global Warriors skipper Sahid was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant overall performance with the bat and the ball.

 

SCA T10 League

 

In another thrilling T10 league match, SL United and Patel Youth ended up on a tie, with both teams scoring 70 runs in their 10 overs, making it an exciting game to watch.

Winning the toss, SL United opted to bat first and posted a total of 70 runs for 4 wickets in their 10 overs.

Although they lost an early wicket, they managed to reach the above score with vital knocks from Aruna

Weerasooriya (20 off 11), Mayura Nuwan (15 off 10), and Sameera Perera (15 off 11).

Patel Youth's skipper, Naresh Jesani, picked up two wickets for 15 runs in his two overs as the top bowler for his team.

Chasing the target, Patel Youth struggled in the middle order, losing wickets at regular intervals.

SL United‘s skipper, Nimesh Chanaka, bowled brilliantly, taking four wickets for just seven runs.

However, Hardik Vodariya's unbeaten 22 runs off 18 balls and Dharmesh Hirani's 20 runs off 12 balls took Patel

Youth close to the target, and eventually, they levelled the scores.

SL United Skipper Nimesh Chanaka earned the player-of-the-match award due to his exceptional bowling performance.
