Seychelles Postal Services showcases its services to the public |11 October 2019

The Seychelles Postal Services (SPS) organised an open day on Wednesday to showcase the services it offers to the public.
The event was to mark World Postal Day celebrated on that day.
The different services were displayed under the varendah and in the front yard so as to be as near to the public as possible.
The services included parcels and letters handling, sales of stamps, key cutting, online order handling, express mail, 9646 fast delivery, the sales of souvenirs and sales of Airtel and Cable and Wireless air time for mobile phones, as well as personal bill payment for Cable and Wireless customers only.
The deputy chief executive of SPS, Alex Etienne, said that the Seychelles Postal Services took the opportunity during the time of the World Postal Day celebrations to bring its services closer to the community so that they can get the chance to interact with the staff, learn about its services and procedures and also its challenges.
“One of the main concerns which is causing some frustration and confusion among the customers is in relation to our packet tracking system. There are some registered packets which can be tracked globally but there are some other packets which their tracking system is only applicable on the order territory. But once leaving that territory, the packet is un-traceable. And due to the outside suppliers using estimated time of delivery to give to clients, the latter in turn come to our office to claim their goods which in reality have not reached Seychelles yet,” he explained.
Apart from promoting all of the services, more emphasis was placed on the 9646 fast delivery service, a booking system via SMS or notification slip for collecting small packets and which is still on trial. The parcel management system, as it is called, will be fully operational soon. The system notifies the client on the arrival of his or her packet and then proceed to book for collection.
Mr Etienne said that more than 7000 packets have been delivered since the start of the trial of the 9646 delivery system a few months ago.
