Message from chairperson of Survival Ark Foundation, Françoise Larue, on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day |21 November 2023
‘Let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where every child's rights are protected’
“On November 20, we celebrated the joy, innocence, and limitless potential embodied by every child. This year's theme, ‘For Every Child, Every Right’, underscores the fundamental importance of ensuring that each and every child has access to their basic rights.
“Children are not just the future; they are the present, deserving of love, protection, education, and healthcare. This theme serves as a powerful reminder that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, has the right to thrive and reach their full potential.
“Children-focused non-governmental organisations such as the Survival Ark Foundation (SAF) play a crucial role in championing these rights. By providing support, advocacy, and resources, these organisations help create a world where no child is left behind. They work tirelessly to ensure that every child's voice is heard, that their needs are met, and that they can grow up in an environment that nurtures their dreams. Children must realise that their rights come with responsibilities. We therefore urge them to be open to receiving guidance from those wiser than they, so that they can make smart choices, as these will impact their futures and the future of others as well.
“To all the incredible children out there: You are loved, cherished, and our greatest hope for a brighter future. On this special day, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where every child's rights are protected, allowing them to blossom into the amazing individuals they are meant to be.
“Happy International Children's Day!”
