Seychelles’ sole New Year baby was welcomed into this world at 7.38pm.

The little bundle of joy is a healthy baby boy who was born by caesarian section and who weighed 3.250kg.

“I am overjoyed,” was his mother’s reaction to Seychelles NATION.

Petulla Volcy said although her due date was January 1, she was not experiencing any pain and was therefore not expecting the baby on New Year’s Day.

However, she was admitted later during the day, and welcomed her lovely son into the world later that evening.

“My only sister has a son, and now I have given birth to a boy as well. So we now have two boys in the family on my maternal side. I am so happy because I wanted a boy,” she exclaimed.

The Les Mamelles resident and her partner, Anniff Basset, are yet to decide on a name for their son and for now they are enjoying his arrival into the world.
