The Agency for Social Protection yesterday demonstrated its unwavering support for individuals facing the challenges of cancer.

In commemoration of World Cancer Day on February 4, and in solidary with cancer patients and their families, Agency for Social Protection (ASP) staff set up a small stall outside their office at Ocean gate House yesterday, to raise awareness about the disease.

In an interview with Seychelles NATION, chief executive of ASP, Brenda Morin said they were giving out leaflets to educate people on the financial help provided to cancer patients.

“As we know some cancer patients cannot work and we have to help them financially,” said Ms Morin.

There was also a donation box on site for any contribution as well as the sale of different items to passers-by for fundraising. These included scrunchies made by ASP employees, which were selling at R25 and R15, calendars and bookmarks for R10.

“The scrunchies are multi-colour as we are raising awareness of all the different kinds of cancer,” shared Ms Morin.

ASP said all the money raised will be donated to a cancer patient.
