Minister Vidot speaking as a panelist at the World Governments Summit

Facilitating innovation and improving the ease of doing business vital to Seychelles’ SDGs

 

Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Devika Vidot attended the World Governments Summit in Dubai from February 12-14, 2024. In addition to attending plenary sessions focusing on the summit theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’, she was invited to take part in two panel discussions as a panelist.

During the session on ‘Beyond Boundaries: Integrating Strategies and Partnerships for SDG Success’, she explained how the creation of the SDG Investor Map in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is guiding private sector capital in opportunity areas that support not only sustainable development goals (SDGs) but also the country’s national development objectives.

Regarding the ‘Experience Exchange Forum: What Citizens Expect from The Governments of Tomorrow’, she highlighted the numerous initiatives that the government is employing and actively exploring to digitalise and improve government services in Seychelles.

She added that various reforms and new policies are being developed to match the nation's expectations and improve citizens’ well-being.

On the summit's sidelines, Minister Vidot met with representatives of the Government Experience Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs of United Arab Emirates to discuss ongoing bilateral cooperation.

Minister Vidot was accompanied on her visit by Michael Nalletamby, principal secretary within the Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry (MIEI) and Alex Henderson, senior cooperation officer at the same ministry.
