Japan beat Guatemala in the opening of the FIFA Beach Soccer 2025. 

Despite dominating the second period and hitting the frame three times, Japan couldn't convert their chances. That changed in the third, as they found the breakthrough. Goalkeeper Takeru Furusato fooled Gonzalez and scored with a composed finish, Takuya Akaguma added an overhead kick, and Ozu powered in a pinpoint drive. Tsuboya added the final touch to seal a convincing win for Japan.
