Seychelles returns to world’s largest seafood expo with fresh offerings and strong industry presence
Seychelles has once again made a strong showing at the annual Seafood Expo Global, held in Barcelona, Spain, with a vibrant national pavilion showcasing the very best of its seafood industry.
Now, in its third consecutive year of participation, Seychelles continues to strengthen its presence at the world’s largest seafood trade event, which this year brings together over 2,000 companies from more than 85 countries. The Expo serves as a global platform for seafood professionals to connect with buyers and suppliers, while highlighting innovation, quality and sustainability in the industry.
This year’s industry representation, brought together under the umbrella of the Association of Fish Processors and Exporters Seychelles (AFPES), includes Marlu Seychelles, Ocean Basket and Tropical Tuna, who are spearheading the country’s participation. These key exporters are showcasing premium selections of fresh, wild-caught fish, including yellowfin tuna, red snapper, job fish, and grouper, all harvested using sustainable practices. Notably, yellowfin tuna in the Indian Ocean is now classified as no longer overfished, marking a positive shift in stock status and reinforcing the sustainability of Seychelles’ tuna exports.
The Seychelles Pavilion, prominently located in Hall 1, is the result of continued collaboration between the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy, the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA) and private sector partners. Designed to reflect the freshness and authenticity of Seychelles’ marine resources, the stand proudly promotes the message of ‘Fresh, Wild Caught, and Sustainably Fished’, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to responsible ocean stewardship.
Visitors to the pavilion are once again being treated to exquisite sashimi samples prepared by a talented team of chefs including the SFA’s chef, offering a true taste of Seychelles’ ocean bounty. This interactive approach has helped attract keen interest from international buyers seeking high-quality seafood products and long-term partnerships.
Seychelles’ continued participation in the Seafood Expo Global 2025 signals its dedication to expanding market access, elevating the visibility of its fisheries sector, and showcasing the value of sustainable fishing practices. As global demand for traceable and responsibly sourced seafood grows, Seychelles is well-positioned to meet this expectation with a trusted supply chain and premium marine offerings.
