Seychelles contributes to CEPF mid-term assessment in Madagascar

A strong delegation from Seychelles is currently participating in the Mid-Term Assessment of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund programme MADIO 2 in Madagascar.

The Mid-Term Assessment (MTA) provides a crucial opportunity to review the progress, achievements and lessons learned during the implementation of Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund’s (CEPF) investment in the region.

The Seychelles delegation is being led by Marie-May Jeremie, the chief executive of the Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust (SeyCCAT). Ms Jeremie is accompanied by Michel Pierre, the focal point for Seychelles within the CEPF Regional Implementation Team.

SeyCCAT serves as the focal point for CEPF in Seychelles, playing a vital role in coordinating and supporting conservation efforts within the nation. In addition to the leadership, Seychelles is proudly represented by nine grantees who are actively implementing projects funded by CEPF and the Seychelles National Designated Authority, represented by the director general for Environment, Rodney Quatre. These projects contribute significantly to biodiversity conservation, restoration, capacity building of CSOs and sustainable development in Seychelles.

Their participation in the MTA will allow them to share their experiences, showcase their achievements, and contribute to the overall assessment of the CEPF programme.

The MTA agenda, taking place from May 6 to May 9, includes presentations on programme objectives, project highlights, thematic discussions, and site visits.

The participation of the Seychelles delegation underscores the nation's strong commitment to biodiversity conservation and its active engagement with regional and international partners like CEPF.

The insights and outcomes of the MTA will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of CEPF investments and ensuring their continued effectiveness in safeguarding critical ecosystems in the region, including Seychelles.
