MCB Seychelles rewards customers to encourage the use of bank cards
MCB Seychelles organised a prize-giving ceremony late last month for the winners of a two-night staycation on La Digue. Those who used their cards for transactions at POS terminals and online from November to January 15, 2025 were eligible to win lottery tickets to be part of the raffle. The draw took place on February 17, 2025 in the presence of a Seychelles Police Officer at the Caravelle House, MCB Seychelles Head Office, Victoria and the official announcement and handing over ceremony was held on April 23 at the Caravelle House, MCB Seychelles.
Deputy managing director, Dolly Tirant, said that MCB Seychelles has been doing the Cashless Initiative promotion since 2021. The promotion allows customers to become more comfortable with using their cards and provide them an opportunity to break away from normal routine and enjoy the rewards.
In a press communique, the bank said that in today's fast-paced world, bank cards have become an essential tool for managing finances efficiently and securely. The benefits of using bank cards for purchases, tracking transactions, accessing apps, and replacing cheques are numerous. MCB Seychelles continuously promotes the Card Usage due to its numerous benefits.
According to MCB Seychelles using bank cards for purchases offers unparalleled convenience. Whether shopping online or at a physical store, transactions are quick and hassle-free. Unlike cash, which can be lost or stolen, bank cards come with robust security features, including fraud protection and the ability to dispute unauthorised charges. “This ensures that your money is safe, and your transactions are secure as long as the customer manages all its security features.”
One of the significant advantages of using bank cards is the ability to track transactions easily. With digital records, customers can monitor their spending, set budgets, and identify any unauthorised activity promptly.
“This level of oversight helps with better financial management and planning, especially when bundled with our MCB Juice app or Internet banking platform,” said the bank.
Bank cards often come with access to mobile banking apps, which provide a suite of services at customers’ fingertips. From checking account balances to transferring funds and paying bills, these apps offer convenience and control over their finances anytime, anywhere.
MCB Seychelles’ marketing manager, Elaine Derjacques, said that some features like ‘Managing your Cards’ on the Juice app, allows a person to disable International transactions, disable the card if lost or misplaced and even pay credit card balance.
“As we all are aware of the forthcoming sunsetting of cheques for individual customers, your debit or credit card allows for a modern alternative to cheques, offering faster and more secure transactions. Unlike cheques, which can take days to clear and more are susceptible to fraud, bank card transactions are processed instantly. This immediacy is beneficial for both consumers and merchants, ensuring smooth and efficient financial operations,” added MCB Seychelles.
