Stakeholders take stock
Achievements and challenges of the Education for Sustainable Development programme were at the centre of a one-day discussion yesterday at the University of Seychelles’ auditorium.
The national conference under the theme ‘Sustainable Futures: Transforming Communities through Education for Sustainable Development’, was jointly organised by the Environmental Education Association of Seychelles, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment and the University of Seychelles (UniSey) with financial support of GEF Small Grants programme.
It brought together stakeholders and key partners from government, the civil society, the private sector and in the community involved in the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development programme in the country, including primary and secondary students from the various eco schools from state and private learning institutions.
Its aim was to enhance awareness on stakeholder engagement in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and further encourage a sustainable healthy life style. It was a follow up to the first conference on Education for Sustainable Development held at the same venue in August 2016.
