Stakeholders call for revocation and relocation
A group of concerned stakeholders is calling for the revocation of the M5 Aquaculture Development Zone off Beau Vallon – a 15 km² area (one and a half times larger than La Digue) officially gazetted on December 31, 2024.
The call came after a meeting on Saturday afternoon at the Beau Vallon community centre, attended by individuals from tourism-related businesses, including fishermen and environmental activists.
Following intense discussions, a cross-sector working committee was formed to launch a petition, raise public awareness, and explore legal options if necessary.
