Seychelles Arts Award – The Trophy

Seychelles Arts Award – The Trophy

Masterfully crafted by renowned sculptor Egbert Marday, the trophy is a stunning visual embodiment of the Arts Awards – the sculpted form cleverly integrates the letters ‘A’ for both Arts and Awards, crafted to stand elegantly atop a solid base.

The AW stands for Arts Award, the two letters linking and flowing suggesting continuous movement or evolution.  It's a logo in 3D, visually appealing, has visual presence and architecturally holds well together, especially when taking into consideration the size when mounted on the stage.

The word ‘Arts Awards’ is beautifully inscribed along its surface in a graceful, sweeping script, celebrating the fusion of creativity and excellence.

As both a sculptor and painter, Egbert Marday is celebrated for his work that captures the spirit of Seychellois life and culture. The artistry is reflected in the trophy’s organic yet precise contours – its stylistic choice echoes his mixed-media approach, often seen in his sculptures representing human interaction, music, and dance.

Recognition of his masterful contributions came when Marday received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Seychelles Arts Awards in 2019 . His design for this trophy extends that honour – imbuing the award with creative richness, cultural resonance, and a dynamic visual identity fitting for a national celebration of the arts.

In essence, the trophy is more than a prize – it’s a signature piece that reflects the vibrancy, heritage, and artistic spirit of Seychelles, thoughtfully designed by one of the country’s most respected artists.
