Bangladeshi high commissioner calls on Speaker

Prior to his accreditation on Tuesday morning, the newly appointed high commissioner of Bangladesh to Seychelles, Zokey Ahad, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Seychelles’ National Assembly, Roger Mancienne.

For the meeting on Monday, Mr Ahad was accompanied by the First Secretary and Head of Chancery Md. Jahangir Alam.

Speaker Mancienne commenced the meeting by warmly welcoming the high commissioner to the National Assembly and the two engaged in a brief discussion on the high commissioner’s time in Seychelles since his arrival, including his accreditation.

Discussions then turned to the current political landscape of Bangladesh, with reference to the recently dissolved parliament and the highly anticipated elections.

Mr Ahad shared his insights on the parallels between the two nations, and expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening bilateral relations in the coming future.

He also highlighted the importance of parliamentary exchanges and benchmarking activities for both honourable members and staff, expressing a sincere hope that such collaboration could be pursued once Bangladesh’s Parliament is re-established.

Hon. Mancienne welcomed the prospect of continued engagement with Bangladesh and conveyed his best wishes to the high commissioner in his new role.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation and a souvenir photograph.
