Presidential candidate Regis Francourt comments on proposed solar farm
“On July 16, 2025, I publicly announced that if elected, my administration will switch electricity generation to Green Hydrogen.
“Since then the government has rushed through a contract with a foreign company to set up solar farms on the providence lagoon.
“I believe this company was unwise to enter into this agreement during a general election cycle and their investments could be at risk after the elections.
“Any future administration under my leadership will not honour this agreement because it is not in the interest of the people of Seychelles.
“Our plans are to halve the electricity costs to domestic consumers and substantially reduce the cost to business users.
“If elected, I intend to carry on with my plans irrespective of agreements rushed through in the middle of an election cycle.”
Regis Francourt
Independent presidential candidate for the September 2025 election
