The Citizens Democracy Watch Seychelles has commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the second round of the 2025 presidential election, while making several recommendations to further strengthen Seychelles’ democratic processes.
Presenting the organisation’s preliminary statement on the October 9–11 presidential runoff at THE CEPS conference room yesterday afternoon, the Citizens Democracy Watch Seychelles (CDWS) chairperson and head of mission, Eline Moses, said the mission’s observations covered all stages of the electoral process, from preparations to voting and counting.
“Through this statement, we are sharing our mission’s preliminary observations of the post-first round of elections, the pre-second round, and the presidential runoff, with the same accreditation and mandate. The scope of our observations was not restricted to the polling stations. Instead, our observers patrolled the communities to interact with key political actors and citizens,” Ms Moses said.
