Long-awaited health information system is set in motion |14 December 2019
Work on the health information system for the Health Care Agency will be set in motion with the signing of a contract worth US &2.4 million with Manorama Infosolutions PVT Ltd.
The signing will take place today at the Sheikh Kalifa Diagnostic Centre.
Manorama Infosolutions PVT Ltd is a software solution provider based in India. They will undertake the design and setting up of the software for the health information system (HIS) which will begin with a gap analysis to assess information systems and determine whether day-to-day requirements are being met and, if not, what steps should be taken to ensure they are met successfully.
The Health Care Agency (HCA) will also today accept a loan of US $4.05 million from the government of Indian for the complete establishment of the HIS. This includes both the software and hardware set-up.
The HIS is expected to greatly improve quality of healthcare by facilitating daily operations such as registration of patients, appointments, ordering tests, storing and retrieving patients’ records and others. It will also enhance the coordination between all health facilities.
It is expected the system will eventually link to various national e-government systems to improve overall government strategic decision-making nationally.
