Opens new era of cultural cooperation
The first Russia-Seychelles Film Festival since the 1980s was held at Deepam Cinema from November 13 to 18, bringing six modern Russian blockbuster films to local audiences free of charge.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, ROSKINO, and the embassy of the Russian Federation in Seychelles, the festival marked a renewed push to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries, and is expected to become an annual event.
The visiting delegation included director general of ROSKINO Elza Antonova, Russian actor Kirill Kuznetsov, and director Dmitry Honin, whose film, ‘My Pet Dragon’ formed part of the programme. During their visit, they spoke to Seychelles NATION about the motivation behind the festival, the future of film cooperation, and opportunities for Seychellois filmmakers.
