PhD candidate: Inspired by nature, driven by purpose
Seychelles continues to produce remarkable young talents who are shaping the future of environmental science. Among them stands Alvania Lawen, one of the youngest Seychellois currently pursuing a PhD, specialising in marine microplastics – an issue of increasing urgency for small island states.
Passionate, determined, and deeply rooted in her love for Seychelles, Alvania represents a new generation of scientists committed to safeguarding our oceans and inspiring others to do the same. Seychelles NATION first featured her after she completed her Bachelor’s degree, and today we reconnect with her as she embarks on an ambitious research journey that bridges science, advocacy, and national pride.
