Ceps salutes volunteers on International Volunteer Day

Dr Odile De Comarmond

“On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, which is commemorated on December 5, the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) would like to honour all its members for their dedication towards volunteerism. Thank you for coming forward to serve our communities in the areas of great need. This year’s theme, is ‘Every Contribution Matters’, and this is very fitting for our context, considering all the challenges that our communities are facing.

“Today we take this opportunity to thank not only our members, but all our partners who have taken this opportunity to contribute voluntarily to the different causes. Remember, everyone of us has something meaningful to offer and everything contribution, no matter the size, can make a difference. “We can safely say that volunteerism is the backbone of any society and this should be acknowledged. When we volunteer we bring this sense of togetherness, strengthen social cohesion and help to protect communities, especially those in need.

“On this occasion Ceps would like to appeal to the government and the population at large to promote volunteering, support volunteer efforts and recognise their contributions to make a difference in the lives of people in our communities. Volunteers deserve our heartfelt thanks and encouragement. We also invite others to join in this noble effort!

“Happy International Volunteers Day!”
