Karate: Elite Summer Camp and International Karate Championship |13 December 2025
AKS team heads to Cape Town
A determined three-member delegation from Ashihara Karate Seychelles departed for Cape Town, South Africa, on Thursday to take part in the prestigious annual Summer Training Camp and the Invitational Karate Championship, both organised by Ashihara Karate International.
The championship is scheduled for Sunday December 14.
The team is led by Shihan Egbert Moustache, Ashihara Karate Seychelles (AKS) director and head coach, who continues to be a driving force behind the growth and development of Ashihara karate in Seychelles.
Representing the country at this international event are Halyl Antat (making his first-ever international appearance), Senpai David Robert, and Senpai Martin Lebon, with the latter two having previously competed in Cape Town with commendable performances.
In the run-up to their departure, the athletes faced a demanding preparation period.
Antat and Robert balanced their training with school examinations, while Senpai Martin managed an intensified work schedule.
Despite these challenges, all three maintained consistent training and are said to be in excellent form.
Their dedication, discipline and resilience have impressed coaches, teammates and supporters alike.
Shihan Moustache expressed strong confidence in the team, highlighting the positive combination of youthful determination and seasoned experience.
“The team have trained hard. They are physically and mentally prepared. I believe they will represent Seychelles with pride and, if all goes well, return home with medals just as they have done in the past,” he said.
The annual AKI Summer Camp attracts practitioners from across the region and offers high-level training sessions led by international instructors.
The camp serves as an opportunity for technical development, a platform for athletes to test themselves in a competitive environment, and a valuable meeting point for building friendships.
AKS also extended its appreciation to the Seychelles Karate Federation (SKF) for its continued support, as well as to the entire AKS family. The organisation noted that the encouragement and contributions from parents, students, friends and supporters have been instrumental in ensuring Seychelles is proudly represented on the international stage.
As the AKS team focuses on its upcoming international engagements, attention is already shifting to the local calendar.
The organisation is preparing to host its final event of the year – the AKS Mini Championship – on December 20, which is expected to offer an exciting conclusion to 2025, particularly showcasing the talents of young athletes.
