The declaration of February 1 as the Day of the Abolition of Slavery in Seychelles has been received with mixed emotions by the population in general.
For some, this brings back painful memories mixed with feelings of inferiority and shame. For others, there is still the feeling of superiority, not wanting to admit, or even the feeling of guilt and remorse. The question that we ask ourselves is, has this memory been too often neglected?
