Celebrating women in the Seychelles’ media landscape |09 March 2026

Celebrating women in the Seychelles’ media landscape

“On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Media Association of Seychelles (MAS) wishes all the women in the Seychelles a happy commemoration of their day. MAS proudly recognises and celebrates the invaluable contribution of women in the local media landscape.

“MAS honours the dedication, and hard work of women journalists, editors, broadcasters, photographers, producers, and communication specialists who continue to shape the national conversation.

“Women play a central role in Seychelles’ media landscape. They are at the forefront of news reporting, research, content creation, and newsroom management and logistics. Through their commitment to accuracy, fairness, and integrity, they contribute meaningfully to strengthening democracy, and transparency, while giving voice to the diverse communities.

“Recognising that a career in the media industry is very demanding, and can impact on family life, MAS salutes those mothers and wives who turn up daily to keep the nation informed, educated and entertained, often working way past sociable hours, while juggling their family life and parenthood responsibilities.

“While  MAS acknowledges that there is equity in opportunity for both sexes in the local media industry, the association calls upon the employers and the relevant authorities to continue seeking means and ways to make the working environment of the female practitioners, especially those who have young children or are pregnant, more conducive, so that they can give the best of themselves in an often thankless field of work.

“MAS stands in solidarity with women in media and across all sectors. We celebrate you, we see you, and we will continue to advocate for your continued growth and success.

“Together, we continue to tell the stories that matter.

“Happy Women's Day!”
