STC introduces temporary control on sale of Sunflower oil
In the spirit of ‘Values your Trust’, the Seychelles Trading Company Limited wishes to inform the public that it has introduced temporary control on the sale of its Sunflower oil.
This measure has been taken following a noticeable surge in sales since Monday March 2, which has contributed to the rapid reduction of current stock levels. As previously explained by the Seychelles Trading Company Limited (STC) chief executive during the press conference of March 5, 2026, global supplies of Sunflower oil have remained challenging since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as the region is one of the world’s main producers of Sunflower oil.
Additionally, the current tensions in the Middle East have affected scheduled incoming consignments from Europe, as these shipments transit through regions presently experiencing disruptions.
In view of these developments, STC has deemed it prudent to manage the sale of Sunflower oil in a more sustainable and equitable manner, ensuring that the product remains available to as many customers as possible during this period.
STC wishes to inform the public that it has already moved swiftly to secure additional supplies of cooking oil, which is expected in Seychelles shortly.
STC takes this opportunity to reassure members of the public that this is purely a precautionary measure, and there is no immediate risk of cooking oil or other essential commodities running out.
The company appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public as it continues to work towards maintaining stable supplies of essential goods.
