URS to be reintroduced following National Assembly approval
The Unemployment Relief Scheme will soon be reintroduced after the National Assembly approved the Unemployment Relief Scheme Bill (2025).
Presenting the bill yesterday morning, Minister for Employment and Human Resource Planning, Idith Alexander, described it as another step by government to honour its social contract with the people.
“The Unemployment Relief Scheme (URS) is a programme that already existed, a familiar programme through which many individuals have gained the knowledge and competencies needed to enter permanent employment,” she said.
