Applications for The Great Battle for the Crown officially closed on Sunday, March 15, marking the end of an exciting first phase of Seychelles’ biggest new music competition.

This year’s judging panel comprising British High Commissioner, Jeff Glekin, alongside collaborators Taniah and Isham Rath,is now reviewing all submissions. The judges have already praised the creativity and musical range on display, noting that the entries reflect the impressive depth of young musical talent across Seychelles.

High Commissioner Glekin said the “level of talent coming through these applications is remarkable”.

“Seychelles has a vibrant, creative generation of young people, and it’s inspiring to watch them express themselves so confidently through music. I’m especially excited to welcome our UK guest judge and music producer, Josh Daniel, who will be guiding participants and providing feedback throughout the rounds, and who will also join us in person for the grand finale to crown the winner,” he stated.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to take part in filmed auditions, launching the start of production for the brand‑new TV series produced in partnership with the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). Each episode will be built around British hits and unique themes, with contestants battling it out in front of the judges and reinterpreting iconic UK tracks in their own style.

The show is set to air from mid to late April, leading up to a grand finale public concert in May 2026, open to all Seychellois. Tickets for the finale will go on sale next month.
