Two Seychellois earn doctorates, strengthening national research
Compiled by Kassey Govinden
Seychelles is celebrating a significant academic achievement as two distinguished scholars, Malshini Senaratne and Georges Nicette, have successfully earned their doctoral degrees, marking an important moment for higher education and research in the country.
A former student of Anse Boileau schools and the Seychelles Advanced Level Studies (Sals), Ms Senaratne went on to complete her undergraduate studies at the University of Manchester and a Master’s degree in International Business before pursuing her PhD on a full scholarship. Currently working at the University of Seychelles, she hopes her research will contribute to evidence-based policymaking, particularly as the country develops its blue carbon policy framework.
