High-level guests join Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee at President Herminie’s invitation

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the Diaspora is pleased to announce that the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, will host several high-level foreign dignitaries during the National Day celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence.

The National Day Parade, which will take place at Stad Linite on Sunday, June 28, 2026, will be attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi; the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, His Excellency Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam; the chairperson of the African Union Commission, His Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf; the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan; the Minister of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Liu Wei; and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, Maxim Oreshkin.

In addition to attending the National Day celebrations, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, will undertake a three-day State Visit to Seychelles at the invitation of President Herminie.

The State Visit coincides not only with the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence, but also with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Seychelles and India, reflecting the enduring friendship and close partnership between the two countries.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will call on President Herminie, following which the two leaders will hold high-level talks aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi will also preside over the handover of donations and the inauguration of projects of national significance, and will participate in a number of cultural activities organised in his honour.

The visit is expected to further reinforce the longstanding ties between Seychelles and India and reaffirm the shared commitment of both countries to deepening cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
