National Assembly approves Health Care Agency (Repeal) Bill, 2026

The Health Care Agency (Repeal) Bill, 2026 (Bill No. 4 of 2026) was approved by the National Assembly yesterday following its third reading.
The bill had earlier been approved in principle after a vote on its general merits, with 16 members in favour and 11 abstaining. During the third reading, it received 16 votes in favour and 10 abstentions, securing its formal passage.
It was presented by the Minister for Health, Dr Marvin Fanny, who was accompanied by principal secretaries for policy, planning, strategy and accountability, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Pugazhendhi, and for health services, Dr Sandra Crewe.
