Commission of Inquiry into prison riot officially sworn in
The three members of the newly established Commission of Inquiry into the prison riot at Montagne Posée were officially sworn in during a brief ceremony held at State House yesterday morning. The ceremony took place in the presence of President Patrick Herminie and Vice-President Sebastien Pillay.
The commission will be chaired by Justice Alfred Mavedzenge, and will also include Judge Melchior Vidot and Vic Tirant. The body has been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the violent incident that took place at the Montagne Posée prison in December 2024.
