Regional project enhances vector surveillance in Seychelles livestock sector

Efforts to strengthen the surveillance and management of arthropod vectors in Seychelles have been reinforced through a recent mission conducted under the PRERISK OI project, part of the INTERREG VI Indian Ocean Cooperation Programme 2022–2027.
Held between February and March 2026, the mission brought together regional and local experts in animal health to address growing concerns over vector-borne diseases affecting livestock and food security in the country. The initiative was led in collaboration with the Seychelles’ agriculture department, alongside specialists from Cirad’s ASTRE (Animal, Santé, Territoires, Risques, Ecosystème) joint research unit.
