Blue Grants Fund cycle 10 and new environment trust fund stream

The Seychelles Conservation and Climate Change Adaptation Trust has officially launched two funding streams to advance environmental conservation and climate resilience in Seychelles: the 10th cycle of the Blue Grants Fund (BGF 10) and the inaugural Environment Trust Fund (ETF 1).

The Seychelles Conservation and Climate Change Adaptation Trust (SeyCCAT) is an independent trust fund dedicated to supporting the sustainable development of Seychelles’ blue economy by financing impactful projects that address climate change and marine conservation challenges.

As part of its annual call for proposals, SeyCCAT is inviting applications under the Blue Grants Fund, which has now reached its 10th cycle. For BGF 10, SeyCCAT aims to disburse a total of R3.9 million across selected projects. Proposals must align with SeyCCAT’s strategic objective 3, which focuses on the rehabilitation of degraded marine and coastal ecosystems. As customary, three grant sizes are available: small (up to R100,000), medium (up to R1 million), and large (up to R2 million).

Eligible initiatives include coral reef restoration, mangrove reforestation, seagrass meadow protection and mapping, nature-based solutions for coastal erosion, and the rehabilitation of critical habitats for key species.

This year, SeyCCAT is placing a strong emphasis on including baseline assessments in all project proposals. These assessments will support accurate measurement of restoration progress and help identify priority areas for intervention, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness and long-term impact of funded projects.

In addition to BGF 10, SeyCCAT has partnered with the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources to launch the first cycle of the Environment Trust Fund (ETF 1). While SeyCCAT will provide technical expertise in fund coordination, the ministry, through an executive committee, remains responsible for the administration of the fund.

The ETF will support projects across several priority areas, including environmental protection and biodiversity conservation; pollution reduction and waste management; environmental education and awareness; and research, innovation, and sustainable development. Grant sizes will vary depending on project category.

“We encourage individuals and local organisations to apply to the BGF and ETF and help drive the next wave of ocean and environmental action,” said SeyCCAT chief executive Helena Sims.

“Our partnership with the government on the Environment Trust Fund reflects a shared national commitment to environmental stewardship. These funds exist to empower our people – to turn local knowledge, innovation, and passion into real impact for our ocean and our islands, and we encourage everyone with a vision for a healthier, more sustainable Seychelles to apply,” reiterates Ms Sims.

The application deadline for both funding streams is May 27, 2026, at 4pm. ETF applicants must fill in the ETF application form and submit it to info@seyccat.org. However, BGF applicants are requested to apply digitally on the SeyCCAT online platform.
