Security incident at State House contained, no injuries reported |13 April 2026
A security incident involving an unauthorised vehicle entering the State House compound earlier on Saturday was swiftly contained by security personnel, confirmed the Office of the President in a press release issued late Saturday.
No injuries were reported, and the situation was fully under control, read the communiqué. According to State House, preliminary information indicated that the individual breached the main gate, causing damage to the entrance infrastructure before being apprehended by on site security officers.
“Security protocols were immediately activated, and the individual was detained and handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The individual has since been formally apprehended and will be brought before the court on Monday,” said the press release.
“There was no threat to the President or staff, and normal operations at State House continue without disruption,” it added.
“I am aware of the situation and there was no threat to myself or to staff, and normal operations at State House continue without disruption. I strongly condemn this act of terrorism. Such actions will not be tolerated, and the necessary legal action will be taken," said President Patrick Herminie.
This act is considered a serious display of disrespect toward the High Office of the Republic and is wholly unacceptable. Such behaviour undermines the dignity of national institutions and the rule of law.
Members of the public are reminded that state property and official premises represent the authority, unity, and sovereignty of the country and must be treated with the utmost respect at all times. The videos currently circulating on social media do not reflect the values of integrity and respect expected in relation to government premises.
The matter is also under investigation by the Seychelles police force. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
