British High Commission hosts exclusive screening at Deepam Cinema

The British High Commission hosted an exclusive premiere screening of ‘The Great Battle for the Crown’, at the Deepam Cinema on Thursday evening.

This project, created by the British High Commission in partnership with the national broadcaster, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), Taniah and Mozaik Entertainment, has been a major team effort. It celebrates British music and Seychellois talent while strengthening cultural links with the UK.

The premiere was a chance to celebrate the achievement together. The series will air weekly on SBC from today (April 18) and lead up to a live grand finale public concert on May 23, 2026, where the finalists will compete for the crown.

The British High Commissioner, Jeff Glekin, highlighted that the concept for the competition was born from a simple idea shared over dinner, which later evolved into an ambitious national project blending UK musical influence with Seychellois talent. He described the initiative as “one of the most inspiring and exciting endeavours” he has had the privilege of working on.
