Tourism Seychelles and Small Luxury Hotels of the World host Chinese media familiarisation trip

Tourism Seychelles, in partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), hosted a media familiarisation trip from China from April 20–26, 2026.

Organised in collaboration with L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa and Niva Labriz Seychelles, and facilitated through Ethiopian Airlines, the initiative welcomed a select group of Chinese media representatives and luxury lifestyle Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to experience the destination firsthand.

The programme placed particular emphasis on Seychelles’ continued accessibility while showcasing experiences beyond the traditional “Sun, Sand & Sea” offering. The itinerary highlighted the islands’ rich culture, local cuisine and traditions, eco-tourism experiences, and responsible ways to discover the destination.

Coverage from the participating media also focused on curated destination experiences combined with exclusive in-stay highlights at the participating SLH properties, demonstrating how Seychelles delivers authentic, sustainable, and high-end travel experiences.

“Chinese travellers increasingly seek experiences that offer depth, authenticity, and wellbeing. As the market continues to shift from large group travel towards luxury and lifestyle FIT experiences, this media trip highlighted Seychelles’ ‘Higher Value, Lower Impact’ positioning through cultural discovery, eco-tourism, wellness, culinary experiences, and responsible luxury offerings,” said Mr Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, director for China.

He added that the collaboration with L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa and Niva Labriz Seychelles further reinforced Seychelles’ reputation as a destination offering exceptional comfort, personalised service, and meaningful travel experiences aligned with evolving Chinese traveller expectations.

Chinese travellers remain among the world’s highest international spenders, making the market an important source of high-value tourism for Seychelles. As visitor arrivals from China continue to increase year to date, Tourism Seychelles continues to strengthen engagement with trade partners and influential media to position the destination as a premium and sustainable choice where exceptional hospitality meets immersive local discovery.
