SMA warns of intensifying El Niño impacts

The Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA) has issued a warning that El Niño conditions have re-emerged in Seychelles and are developing rapidly, with significant impacts expected during this year’s South East Monsoon season.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION, chief executive Vincent Amelie said the climate phenomenon is already influencing local weather patterns and could bring heavier rainfall, rough seas, and other extreme events between June and August.
