Orthopaedic surgeon testifies before inquiry

The sole witness to appear yesterday in an open deliberation session before the Commission of Inquiry into the Montagne Posée prison riot of December 5, 2024, was orthopaedic surgeon Dr Brian Antoine.

Dr Antoine, who has been practising medicine for 16 years and specialising in orthopaedic surgery for nearly seven years, told the commission that he was on duty at the Seychelles Hospital casualty unit when injured inmates were brought in. He treated all those presenting with orthopaedic trauma, estimating that more than 15 patients required care.
