New day care centre officially opens in Mont Fleuri |06 June 2026
A festive atmosphere reigned during the ceremony
The Mont Fleuri district yesterday celebrated the official opening of its brand‑new day care centre. Constructed at a cost of R4.2 million, the modern facility – managed by Stella Marie under the name Rise and Shine Day Care Centre – was inaugurated in the presence of President Patrick Herminie, Vice‑President Sebastien Pillay, and ministers David Pierre, Eveline Rose, and Pamela Charlette.
Story of the Day Care Centre
The origins of the Mont Fleuri Day Care Centre date back to the 1990s, when a modest facility was established through the initiative of Florence Benstrong, a respected political figure and member of the National Assembly. Deeply committed to the welfare of Mont Fleuri’s residents, she was particularly passionate about the wellbeing of children. Through her vision and dedication, the original centre was born – a simple building built on foundations of love, service, and community commitment.
