Public march defends SBC’s independence

 

Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) organised a public march on Saturday in support of maintaining the independence of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), describing the issue as a fundamental pillar of democracy in Seychelles.

Participants gathered at the Stad Popiler car park before marching through central Victoria – passing Constitution Avenue, Albert Street, and Royale Street to Rue Felix Paul – before returning to the car park to conclude the event.

Speaking after the march, LDS leader Wavel Ramkalawan defended the decision to hold the demonstration:

“We had previous campaigns against taxes on food, concerns over the SBC law, and the proposed foreign military base on Assomption Island.”
