International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking |26 June 2026

‘Recovery is real, change is possible’ – Bishop Landry
“On this International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, I, Bishop Landry Rasamison, chairperson of La Ferme de l’Espoir (Farm of Hope), joins the global community in raising awareness – but more importantly, in sharing a message of hope.
Every day, we are reminded that behind every struggle with addiction, there is a person – a son, a daughter, a parent, a friend – with the potential to heal, to rebuild, and to thrive.
“At La Ferme de l’Espoir, we have the privilege of walking alongside individuals on their journey to recovery. Over the past months, we have seen encouraging progress from residents who have committed themselves to change. After 6 to 8 months on our residential programme, many are beginning to rediscover stability, purpose, and a renewed sense of self-worth.
“These stories remind us that recovery is real. Change is possible.
“But recovery is not something that happens in isolation. It requires support, understanding, and a community that chooses compassion over judgment.
“As we mark this important day, we call on families, communities, and institutions to continue standing together – to support those in recovery, to strengthen prevention efforts, and to create environments where people feel safe to seek help.
“Let us continue to work together to build a society where healing is possible, where dignity is preserved, and where every individual is given the opportunity to rebuild their life.”
