Antoine Azemia: The maestro who shaped generations of Seychellois musicians

The sound of brass instruments rang with emotion as family, friends, former students and fellow musicians bid farewell to Antoine Azemia on Tuesday July 14, 2026. The funeral of the celebrated Chef de Musique was not only a final goodbye but also a tribute to a man whose influence on Seychelles’ musical heritage will endure for generations.

Mr Azemia passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 77, leaving behind a remarkable legacy built on decades of dedication to music, education and national service.
