Early foundations: A female-dominated calling

In its early years, nursing in Seychelles – as in many parts of the world – was closely associated with traditional views of women as caregivers. The profession was seen as an extension of domestic female roles: nurturing, compassionate, and selfless. Consequently, the nursing workforce was overwhelmingly female, a trend heavily reinforced by societal expectations.
