The Vallée de Mai is home to an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna that extends far beyond its iconic coco de mer palms. Hidden beneath the forest canopy is a remarkable array of species, many of which remain little known despite decades of research. While the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF) operates several long-term monitoring programmes to better understand the biology, distribution, and ecology of key species, many plants and animals are encountered too infrequently to be monitored through dedicated surveys.
