Free eBook celebrates bicentenary of Fr. Léon des Avanchers

To commemorate the Bicentenary of the Birth of Fr. Léon des Avanchers (1825–2025), the first Capuchin priest and pioneer of the Catholic Faith in Seychelles, Seychellois author Jane Edna Stravens is offering the Kindle edition of her book ‘Fr. Léon des Avanchers: Apostle of Light and Faith in Seychelles (1825–2025)’ free of charge on Amazon from July 31 to August 4, 2026, in tribute to the bicentenary of Fr. Léon’s birth and the anniversary of his passing on August 1, 1879 in Abyssinia (present‑day Ethiopia).

This special initiative is a heartfelt gesture of gratitude to a priest whose life of faith, humility, and dedicated service continues to inspire generations of Seychellois.
